Ski Summer in Cervinia e Zermatt

Have you ever dreamed of skiing in summer, with the sun shining high in the sky and the glacier stretching beneath your feet? In Cervinia and Zermatt, this dream becomes reality.

Every morning, from June to September, you can put on your boots and climb up to 3,500 meters to experience unique, technical, and spectacular skiing.

An Experience That Starts Early

Summer skiing begins early when the snow is still compact and perfect for working on technique. The meeting point is usually around 7:15–8:00 a.m., at Plan Maison or directly at Plateau Rosa. From here, we immediately start skiing, taking advantage of the best glacier conditions until 12:30–2:00 p.m., when the snowpack begins to soften.

Where Do You Ski?

You will ski between Italy and Switzerland on the Plateau Rosa glacier, between Cervinia and the Matterhorn. The panorama is breathtaking: on one side, the Matterhorn dominates the scene; on the other, you can see Zermatt and the Gobba di Rollin glacier. The runs stretch over about 6 km of Italian trails, but with the international ski pass, you can access over 26 km in total, including Swiss descents. There are well-prepared black, red, and blue pistes, a snowpark, slalom tracks, and areas dedicated to professional training.

Lifts and Tickets

The main lifts for summer skiing include the Breuil-Plan Maison cable car, the Plan Maison-Cime Bianche gondola, and the Plateau Rosa cable car. Once on the glacier, several ski lifts serve the skiable trails. The Italian daily ski pass starts at about €31, while the Cervinia-Zermatt international ticket costs around €85. I do not recommend purchasing online or in advance at the ticket office.

Who Is Summer Skiing For?

Summer skiing is aimed at beginner/intermediate and advanced skiers who want to improve their technique in a compact snow and consistent terrain context. It is ideal for those who want to train out of season, but also for those seeking an active and alternative week during summer, away from the beach and close to the peaks.

Conditions and Safety

Skiing on the glacier is a fascinating experience but requires attention and awareness. Early in the morning, the cold temperatures keep the snow compact and ideal for technical work; as the day progresses, the sun softens it, making it essential to focus activities during the early hours.

Safety comes first: helmets are mandatory, and I always encourage respecting the rules on the slopes. The lifts may close suddenly in case of strong winds or adverse weather conditions: for this reason, I personally monitor the glacier situation every day—weather, wind, slope condition, and snow cover—before starting the activity. Based on these evaluations, I decide if and how to adapt the program to ensure an effective, pleasant, and above all safe experience.

A Typical Day with Me

We meet early, as real professionals do. A brief warm-up, then straight on the slopes: I analyze your skiing in real-time, guiding you with targeted technical feedback, advanced exercises, and video moments to improve turn after turn. When the glacier closes, the day is not over: it’s the right moment for a break at altitude, a technical review, or a walk down to Cervinia with a view of the Matterhorn.

If the Glacier Is Closed: Alternatives to Keep Training or Enjoy Nature

If conditions do not allow skiing, we don’t lose the day. I offer several alternative experiences designed to continue training and enhance the day:

An opportunity to continue growing technically and physically even away from the skis.

What My Clients Say

Skiing with Pietro on the glacier was one of the best experiences of my summer. Technical teaching, precise, always attentive. And the view of the Matterhorn... unforgettable!

Luigi G., intermediate

I didn’t think it was possible to ski so well in July. Perfect pistes, silent glacier, and above all the professionalism of the instructor: clear technical advice adapted to my level.

Samantha F., advanced
